Why only US phone numbers?

Rove Miles states in its help center that only US mobile numbers can be used to create or access an account. While there is no public, detailed explanation "why," the product is clearly focused on the US market (legal setup and partner focus), so they have limited sign-ups to US numbers for now.

Practical workarounds

These methods are commonly discussed by users but are not officially allowed and can carry risk (including possible account closure and loss of miles).

1. Virtual US numbers (SMS services)

Use services that sell or rent US mobile numbers for receiving SMS one-time codes (OTP), preferably "non-VoIP" US numbers.

Success varies, because some VoIP ranges are blocked for verification. You must retain access to the number as log-ins usually still require OTP.

2. Using a friend’s or relative’s US number

Ask someone in the US to let you use their mobile number for account creation. They receive the OTP and send it to you so you can finish sign-up.

This is generally more stable than virtual numbers (a real mobile number is less likely to be blocked), but you are dependent on that person for future OTPs.

Approaches that do not work

  • Registration without a phone number is not supported.
  • Email-only signup is not offered in the current flow.
  • Switching to a non-US number later is not possible.

⚠️ Important Risk Note

Rove’s terms of use give them broad rights to suspend or close accounts they deem fraudulent or in violation of their policies. Using non-official workarounds (virtual numbers, non-US residency while pretending to be US-based, etc.) may violate those terms, and there is a real chance miles could be forfeited if the account is flagged.
